About Us

We are Shimane University Junior College's students in Japan.  Our school is in Matsue city in Shimane Prefecture.  In Matsue, one of Japan's great cultural traditions remains.  It's "Wagashi"or traditional Japanese sweets.  Matsue is famous for Wagashi in Japan along with Kanazawa and Kyoto.  We thought that we want foreign people to know this wonderful, traditional culture so we made this blog as part of our graduation project course.

We hope that this blog provides a good opportunity to attract your interest in not only wagashi but also Matsue and Japan. In this blog, we introduce Matsue's Wagashi in the hopes that it will become more widely known in other countries.
Our blogs are basically a record of the fieldwork and tasting we did to learn more about Wagashi, with comments, detailed information, photos and video.  In the blogs about a particular Wagashi we included sections on the history, culture, taste, appearance, naming, recipe and ingredients in regards to each Japanese sweet.
Please check it out.  We hope you enjoy this blog and we are looking forward to hearing from you!
